Erling Riis

Erling Riis is a Managing Director at Higginbotham. He joined the company through its partnership with Lyon Fry Cadden Insurance in 2022.

As a Managing Director, Erling expands his book of business while finding insurance solutions for his clients. His clients are spread broadly across physicians’ offices and hospitals, professional liability, contractors, manufacturing, distributors, sports and entertainment, food processors, restaurants, yacht clubs, retail and marine.

Prior to entering the workforce, Erling attended Sewanee: The University of the South. It was there that Erling earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. During his time there, he was a member of the varsity football team, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Order of Gownsmen, amongst other things.

Outside of the office, Erling is involved in numerous organizations. He has held leadership positions for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, Mobile Arts and Sports Association, Mobile Touchdown Club and the Coastal Conservation Association.

Erling is a third-generation Mobile native, with his grandparents immigrating to Alabama from Oslo, Norway. He is married to Jeri, and together they have two sons. In his free time, Erling enjoys competitive sports, literature, travel, sailing and fishing.
