David Vaughan

David Vaughan, a native Tulsan, began his insurance career in 1982 as a commercial casualty underwriter with Aetna Life & Casualty upon graduating from Oklahoma State University. After a four-year stint as a senior underwriter and one year in the marketing department, David joined a large Tulsa-based insurance agency, rising to partner in just five years and remaining with the firm for 20 years. In 2006, David and his wife, Lisa, started Vaughan Insurance Group, LLC, which they owned and operated until Vaughan partnered with Higginbotham in 2021.

As a Managing Director, David specializes in many lines of insurance coverage. He partnered with a major insurance carrier in 1997 to create a proprietary specialty professional liability program targeted specifically for professional consultants who are members of a broad array of professional associations. These professional associations include regulatory affairs, clinical trials, erosion and sediment control, mining and mineralogy, occupational safety and health training and wetlands and delineation management.

David also has many years of insurance experience in the commercial construction industry and contract surety, specializing in heavy construction and trade contractors. In addition, he has spent much of his career servicing the oil and gas industry, working with both large- and small-scale operators across the country, including pipeline construction, management and maintenance, gas processing facilities operators, along with a broad array of well servicing contractors and oilfield equipment manufacturing, servicing and repair.

David is credited for the steadfast commitment, ethical values and professional services that he and his Tulsa team provide to their customers and the various insurance carriers they represent.
