Alex Mathis

As a Managing Director, Alex Mathis manages the day-to-day functions of his office while maintaining a book of business and living his philosophy regarding client service: “People can buy their insurance from anyone. The only thing we have to sell is service.” Alex is credited with an unwavering commitment to ethical, professional service and is appreciated for his keen negotiation skills and background in budgeting and analytics that benefit his teammates and clients alike.

Alex began his insurance career in 2007 when he joined Menard, Gates & Mathis, which eventually became Mathis, Tibbets & Mathis, to provide personal and commercial property and casualty insurance, and group and personal health insurance to clients in the greater Memphis area. The firm joined Higginbotham in 2022.

Alex has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising from Spring Hill College and an MBA from Christian Brothers University. He is active in his community, having served on the board of directors of the Insurors of Memphis (now Insurors of Tennessee) for a decade and as president of the organization for two years. He and his wife, Becky, are Ironman triathletes and their triathlon team regularly volunteers with Tennessee’s Adopt-a-Highway clean-up program.
