Shiraz Rehman

Shiraz joined Higginbotham in November 2025 as the Vice President of Sports and Entertainment. As a long-time baseball executive and founder of LongBall Capital, he brings deep experience across professional sports, finance and insurance to the firm.

Shiraz leads the firm’s NIL insurance program, helping college athletic programs and donor-supported NIL organizations manage the risk that comes with compensating student-athletes. He also helps spearhead the continued development of Higginbotham Sports, the firm’s cross-functional, specialized practice serving athletes and collegiate and professional sports organizations. The group leverages the firm’s deep expertise across employee benefits, financial services, disability, umbrella, executive life and compensation, property & casualty and high net-worth coverage.

Prior to LongBall, Shiraz spent nearly two decades in Major League Baseball. He had stints with both the Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks and spent his last 10 years in the industry as an Assistant General Manager with the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs, winning a World Series in 2016.

Beyond team leadership, Shiraz has served as an advisor in sports private equity with Pinebridge and in the sports prop-trading industries. Earlier in his career, he was a consultant for Deloitte & Touche in their asset-backed securitization practice and traded commodity derivatives in the US and the UK for Enron.

Shiraz graduated from McGill University, where he was a four-year letterman and captain of the baseball team. He also holds an MBA from Columbia University.
