Rusty Reid, CIC

Chairman & CEO

Rusty was named president and CEO of Higginbotham in 1989, at which time he implemented the firm’s single source service platform whereby customers can obtain all their insurance and financial services under one roof. At that time he also led the adoption of Higginbotham’s employee ownership structure, aligning all employees’ interests in the success of the firm. Under Rusty’s leadership, Higginbotham has grown to become one of the nation’s 20 largest independent insurance firms with offices in multiple states. He is also one of Higginbotham’s highest producing commercial property/casualty brokers.

Rusty began his insurance career in 1983 as an assistant to the principals of Ramey, King, & Minnis Insurance Agency. He moved on to American General Fire & Casualty Company as a territorial marketing manager before joining Higginbotham in 1986.

Rusty’s affiliations include: member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church; trustee and chairman for All Saints’ Episcopal School; executive board member and past chairman for Casa Mañana; executive board member for Davey O’Brien Foundation; past chairman for Fort Worth Young Presidents’ Organization and current member of the World Presidents’ Organization; board member for Goosehead; member of Rivercrest County Club, The Fort Worth Club, Fort Worth Exchange Club and Steeplechase; trustee for Texas Christian University; and board member for the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers. Rusty is also a member of several insurance industry groups.

In 2022, Rusty appeared in the Dallas 500 published by D CEO. In 2021, he was listed in the Hall of Fame by Insurance Business America. In 2018, Rusty was named Top Private Executive by the Fort Worth Business Press, one of 25 Most Admired CEOs by The Dallas Business Journal and received the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award. In 2017, he received the CEO of the Year nationwide in the inaugural Insurance Business America Awards program.

He was also selected the Entrepreneur of Excellence in the Professional Services category by FW, Inc. magazine in January 2017. Rusty was listed as one of the 25 Most Innovative Agents in America by the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research in 2004 and has been a member of the National Multiple  Sclerosis Society Fund Raising Hall of Fame.

Rusty received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Insurance from The University of North Texas and he is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

Rusty and his wife Molly were married in 1985 and are parents to three grown children and recently welcomed their third grandchild.
