Matt McAlpine

In his role at Higginbotham, Matt McAlpine helps employers develop benefit strategies that balance cost management, workforce engagement and long-term organizational goals. Since 2010, he has partnered with clients to evaluate plan performance, analyze claims trends and implement data-driven solutions designed to improve outcomes for both employers and employees.

As the firm’s Defense Contractors Industry Practice Leader, Matt works with government contractors and other complex employers to create competitive benefits programs that support talent attraction, retention and organizational performance. He collaborates with consulting, compliance, analytics and pharmacy specialists to deliver strategic, customized employee benefit solutions.

Before joining Higginbotham in 2026, Matt spent 16 years with McGohan Brabender, two years as an account executive for WKEF/WRGT and four years as a photographer for LEX-18. He holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and management from the University of Kentucky.

Matt lives in Centerville, Ohio, with his wife and their three children. He is active in the community, volunteering with various organizations, including the Defense Advisory Committee for the Gala of Hope and NCAA’s First Four Big Hoopla. He is also a Greek Festival Booth Chair and has coached youth soccer for 15 years.
