Jim Krause

Jim Krause serves as Chief Business Development Officer at Higginbotham. He leads the firm’s strategic growth initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments and other partnership opportunities. In this executive leadership role, he also remains actively involved in financial planning and governance at the board level.

Jim joined the firm in 2000 and served as its Chief Financial Officer. As CFO and a member of the Board of Directors, he played a critical role in shaping Higginbotham’s capital markets and new partner strategies while overseeing the company’s finance, treasury and accounting operations. His leadership helped position the firm for sustained growth and long-term financial strength.

Before joining Higginbotham, Jim was Executive Vice President at C. Dean Metropoulos & Co., an executive management firm specializing in operational leadership for private equity-backed companies. He began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse in 1987 and later practiced corporate law with Vinson & Elkins in Dallas, focusing on securities, capital markets and M&A transactions.

Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jim is also actively involved in his community, having served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and Casa Mañana Theatre.
